The Crimson Dynamo is the codename for several fictional characters appearing in Marvel Comics. Primarily, it refers to a Russian (later Soviet) armored superhero or supervillain.
The first Crimson Dynamo was Professor Anton Vanko, a brilliant Soviet scientist. He created the armored suit to serve as a symbol of Soviet technological superiority and to defeat Iron Man. Driven by communist ideals and a desire to prove his genius, he served as a formidable adversary to Tony Stark.
Following Vanko's death, numerous individuals have adopted the Crimson Dynamo mantle, each with their own motivations and agendas. Some were loyal Soviet agents, while others were criminals seeking power or redemption. Key characters who have worn the armor include Yuri Petrovich, Boris Turgenov, Dimitri Bukharin, and Gennady Gavrilov.
